Customized chain solutions
More is less
The drive chain is often perceived as a means to an end, while the more complex components surrounding it receive greater attention. Designers often use cost-effective standard solutions, but Tsubaki offers alternatives for special requirements.
For many applications in drive technology, there is a large - sometimes confusingly diverse - selection of different chain technologies. Here it is advisable for planners to talk to a chain supplier about the best choice for their application. Sometimes it turns out that the standard chain often used is not the best choice and that a customized solution can reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO).
Tsubaki's engineers are constantly developing the portfolio of their standard chains to keep up with the latest developments. If a new production technology is developed that involves extreme temperatures, the influence of chemicals or particularly high loads, for example, they also try to provide a suitable chain for this. Nevertheless, there are applications in which a customized and therefore more complex chain is the most efficient solution at the end of the day.
A special design department is dedicated to these adaptations. The engineers here design customer-specific chains, attachments or special sizes. Some products differ only slightly from the standard chain and comply with DIN/ISO standards. Others, however, require a completely individual solution. In both cases, the team works very closely with the users' designers and technicians.
Customer-specific features
Non-standard applications may include high speeds, high loads, extreme shock loads, continuous operation or extended periods of use. Extreme environmental conditions also include water, brackish or salt water, steam and humidity, corrosive substances or atmospheres, extreme temperatures or temperature fluctuations, outdoor applications in extreme weather and locations that are difficult to reach.
To meet all these requirements, Tsubaki offers solutions such as maintenance-free chains, chains made of stainless steel and other high-performance materials, corrosion and chemical-resistant chains, chains with unusual geometries or special lubricants.
Requirements for conveyor chains
Conveyor chains are often used in applications where such an individual design should be considered. Here, the attachments are just as important as the chain itself. The drive specialist offers a wide range of standard accessories and also develops special solutions here. These could be based on pins, plates, special profiles or molded parts, for example, and can be made from a variety of metals, engineering plastics or other materials.
Another customer-specific approach to conveyor chains is often to change the chain pitch. This is because the existing conveyor chains according to DIN or ISO standards do not cover all industry requirements. Tsubaki has therefore also developed standards that are taken into consideration for every new customer-specific project.
An example from the Netherlands shows how a steelworks improved its productivity in the long term after retrofitting lifting chains that have a service life of ten to 15 years. Or an automotive company from France was able to almost completely eliminate downtime caused by wear friction on a conveyor by installing a "Double Plus" accumulation conveyor chain. as
