Fully programmable on the basis of Codesys V3

Parker Hannifin has added a fully programmable drive to its Parker Servo Drive (PSD) series. This enables an even wider range of applications.

The intelligent PSD is a stand-alone servo drive that is fully programmable in accordance with IEC 61131-3. Its runtime is based on the widely used Codesys V3. It is equipped with a complete set of PLCopen function blocks that enable motion functions to be created quickly and effectively. Two standardized fieldbuses, Profidrive and CANopen DS402, are implemented for simple connection to higher-level PLCs and drives.

The device supports all IEC 61131 programming languages such as structured text, instruction lists, ladder diagram, function chart, SFC and CFC (Sequential and Continuous Function Chart). An intelligent configuration tool makes it easier to set up and commission the drive. Motors from Parker Hannifin are automatically recognized by an electronic nameplate.

As an intelligent controller, the PSD Triple is able to control three servo axes in an IEC project. A total of twelve digital inputs and six digital outputs are available. Up to four tasks can be used simultaneously - including one that operates at a speed of just 500 µs.

"The programmable PSD is an intelligent servo controller for a wide range of applications," explains Patrick Knebel, Product Manager Servo Drives & Controllers, Electromechanical & Drives Division Europe. "It is a further development of the Parker Servo Drive series, which expands on the previous device expansion stages of multi-fieldbus, multi-feedback and functional safety."
