48 V electronics in a modular system

Thanks to a well thought-out modular concept, powerful and robust power boards can be used in a wide range of applications with plug-in control boards.

The demand for compact motor controllers with extra-low voltage requirements is increasing, while the number of suppliers remains manageable. Inverters for extra-low voltage motors are in demand, particularly in the field of robotics and mobile devices, but also increasingly for stationary operation.

Hanning Elektro-Werke has developed the hatronic compact SMC 48 V / 30 A motor controller to meet the various customer requirements reliably and promptly: a scalable series of power boards for DC voltage. The output power ranges from 500 W to 2,000 W.

Interchangeability and reusability

During development, particular emphasis was placed on the principles of reusability in the modular system, time-to-market and high interchangeability of the modules. The output power and the scope of functionality can be determined by assembly variants. Requirements for the safe shutdown of the motor and an additional regulated output for safety brakes are already provided for.

A standard control card makes it possible to start directly with customer projects. It has digital inputs and outputs, an RS-485 interface and a CAN communication bus. Control cards with inputs for speed sensors (resolvers and encoders) and an Ethernet interface are used in the field of mobile robotics. These control cards are easily adaptable to customer requirements and allow simple and reliable commissioning even with the first prototypes.
