Seam sealing process

Automatic CFRP sealing

Fibro Läpple's application enables an automated sealing process for joints in large CFRP parts for the first time. An optical sensor is used to detect, continuously measure and calculate the existing gap geometry.

The sealant is precisely metered and applied in the same run. Continuous measurement makes it possible to adjust the amount of adhesive directly to a variable gap as required and to check the quality at the same time. This saves time and material - and increases efficiency. On the control side, the system is flexible and can be linked to both a robot and a gantry.

The health risks to employees are significantly reduced as contact with the harmful outgassing of the pasty media is avoided. Automated application ensures a high degree of reproducibility, which in turn results in a reduction in rework and material usage. This system was developed especially for use in the aerospace industry. as
