Ergonomic hand applicator
Manual adhesive application becomes more precise
Atlas Copco presents the ergonomically optimized hand applicator Bonder X, with which users can increase the quality of manual adhesive application. The tool is suitable for applications in body shell construction, for seam sealing or general reworking.
Atlas Copco is launching a new manual applicator for high-viscosity material: the ergonomically optimized Bonder X. "The applicator is an efficient solution for significantly improving the quality of manual adhesive application in body-in-white construction, seam sealing or reworking at low investment costs," says Product Manager Cornelius Aichele. The tool is optimally balanced and lighter than its predecessors. In particular, the handle is significantly more ergonomically designed; there is also an additional support handle and a pneumatic trigger that requires less pressure.
"In many industries, there are applications where the adhesive is applied manually," explains Aichele. "Even the automotive industry relies on manual work in some cases." The reasons for this include better accessibility and ease of use: "With hand-held tools, users are more flexible and can quickly reach hidden component areas without much effort." Occasionally, the investment costs for smaller series are also amortized more quickly.
Less reworking and signs of fatigue
The new Bonder X makes it even easier to achieve these goals, says Cornelius Aichele: "On the one hand, the new design improves the quality of the adhesive bead because the application is much easier to control and therefore more precise. On the other hand, the improvements prevent operator fatigue." The valve technology has also been revised so that the undesirable "hammer head" at the start of the glue bead is significantly reduced and overall precision is increased. As a result, less reworking is required, which increases productivity.
For good accessibility and less strain on the operator's wrist, the material hose on the Bonder X sits on a swivel joint. The connection for the material feed can be fixed in three positions: up, down and to the side. This means that the hose is less in the operator's way during work. The tool can be suspended from a balancer on a bracket at the top, which also reduces the operator's workload. Special heat protection reduces the risk of injury.
The SCA product line from Atlas Copco offers a comprehensive portfolio of manual and automated bonding solutions. The manual applicators marketed under the abbreviation HAK are being replaced by the Bonder-X series. Users who work with SCA's HAK 700 or HAK 400 manual application systems can simply replace these applicators with the Bonder X. as
