LAS takes over Eccard Engineering

At the end of October 2017, LAS Lean Assembly Systems in Lorch-Weitmars, Swabia, took over Eccard Engineering from Kernen-Stetten. This means that the company can now manufacture key feeding technology components in-house.

LAS produces cam-controlled assembly and testing machines ranging from semi-automatic cells to high-performance machines with 1,000 parts per minute. Its customers come from various industries, from pharmaceuticals to food and automotive. The company is comparatively young, founded in 2010, but has quickly established itself on the market and currently employs over 50 people.

Eccard Engineering, on the other hand, has a tradition of over 40 years in the field of assembly, automation and feeding technology, with a focus on the planning, manufacture and sale of feeding technology.

LAS already has its own department for feeding technology, which is now being supplemented by the acquisition of Eccard. "Previously, we bought in the vibratory drives for our spiral and linear feeders, including from Eccard. That's why our companies have been in close contact for some time and we knew in advance that we would be a very good fit," explains Roman Boos, Managing Partner of LAS.

Herbert Eccard, Managing Director of Eccard Engineering, is also delighted with what he sees as the ideal solution: "After more than 40 years, I wanted to take a step back and was therefore looking for a good solution for the future of my company. I have found this with LAS." The takeover does not mean that Herbert Eccard will retire to private life in future. He will continue to advise and support customers - now on behalf of LAS. In November 2017, he and his previous employees moved into their new jobs at LAS.

With the acquisition of Eccard, LAS now manufactures the main components of the feeding technology in-house. Roman Boos hopes that this will strengthen this business area and increase flexibility through shorter distances and less coordination effort. Numerous orders placed with LAS in the first few months have already confirmed that customers are on board with this step.

The Eccard components will not only be used in the feed system for the LAS machines, but will also be offered and sold as stand-alone components to other machine and system manufacturers for integration into their systems. as
