A new era of high-volume 3D printing
At the Rapid.Tech and FabCon 3.D trade fair duo, the Fraunhofer Generative Manufacturing Alliance will be presenting a newly developed printer driver that makes it possible to start printing complex and large 3D models within seconds. However, accurate positioning as well as correct reproduction of the coloring and translucency of the parts to be printed pose a major challenge.
The Fraunhofer Generative Alliance shows that there is another way, using an impressive anatomical model. Scientists at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD have developed "Cuttlefish", a printer driver for controlling multi-material 3D printers. This driver only calculates the information required for printing in order to minimize memory consumption and start printing in a matter of seconds.
