New brand

Andreas Mühlbauer,

The Henn Connector Group bundles and expands services

With the merger of the companies UFT, TKW and VMR to form "Henngineered" in July 2023, the parent company, the Austrian Henn Connector Group, is combining valuable expertise and services under one roof. This step enables the company to offer its customers an even broader materials and technology portfolio as well as more comprehensive support along the entire value chain.

Everything from a single source - the Henn Connector Group describes the introduction of the "Henngineered" brand as a milestone in its company history. The merger of various manufacturing service providers - all of which are subsidiaries of the Henn Connector Group - brings together numerous technological competencies: metal deep-drawing (UFT Produktion GmbH), plastic injection moulding (TKW Molding GmbH, TKW Plastics) and 3D printing (VMR GmbH & Co KG), to name just the most important. In addition to this wide range of manufacturing processes for plastics and metal processing, customers also find Henngineered to be an ideal industrialization partner that provides them with detailed advice and support throughout the entire development and manufacturing process. Thanks to these bundled services, many interfaces are eliminated and tailor-made solutions can be realized for the customer. "With the joint appearance as Henngineered, we offer our customers an even broader range of materials and technologies as well as comprehensive support," emphasizes Henngineered CEO Christoph Jandl. "This further development not only strengthens our leading position in the industry, but also creates space for the future positive development of our location regions."

3D printing, thermoforming, plastic injection molding

Henngineered offers a wide range of manufacturing technologies and materials under one roof. The portfolio includes plastic injection molding, turning and milling, metal deep-drawing, 3D printing in metal and plastic, vacuum and polyamide casting and other shaping technologies. All production sites are also certified to at least the ISO 9001:2015 quality standard.

The brand is represented at five locations worldwide. Special solutions for automation are developed in Dornbirn, Austria. The German sites include Mönchweiler with its competence center and innovation hub for additive manufacturing. Prototypes and small series are manufactured here. The services also include vacuum casting, machining, toolmaking and injection molding.

The production center for deep-drawing metal parts is located in Heinsdorfergrund. Here, 12 deep-drawing presses with press forces of up to 3,000 kN form around 50 million automotive parts per year, including quick-release fasteners, airbag sleeves, exhaust sensor parts, cooling connections and camshaft sensor rings.

The two production centers for plastic injection moulding are located in Blankenhain, Germany, and Taicang, China. They primarily produce parts for the automotive sector, including airbag covers, brake fluid reservoirs and components for seat belt systems. Henngineered has a total of 86 injection molding machines at both sites.

Leading the way in additive manufacturing

Henngineered is one of the industry leaders in the field of additive manufacturing. The competence center for additive manufacturing in Mönchweiler has been optimized so that the 3D-printed plastic and metal parts are ready for delivery in three to five days, and Henngineered has a special offering that sets it apart from the competition: subsequent heat treatment, blasting and CNC machining in-house - even in series. Various printing processes for plastics are also offered. For higher requirements such as high-gloss surfaces, fine structures, crystal-clear parts, temperature resistance or glass fiber reinforcement, Henngineered offers vacuum casting as a solution: Thanks to low tooling costs and short lead times, initial parts are available in under ten working days, and even near-series parts can be produced in polyamide casting.

Machining and toolmaking are also among the areas of expertise in Mönchweiler. Even difficult-to-machine or hardened metal is machined here. 3D-printed metal parts can be reworked, and assembly production and surface coating are also offered.

From the idea to mass production

In addition to the expanded material and technology portfolio, Henngineered offers its customers comprehensive services along the entire process chain. It all starts with expert advice: Which material and which production technology are suitable for implementing the customer's requirements? What is the right component design for prototypes, pilot series and series production? How can quality be ensured throughout the process and how can sub-processes be optimized with foresight? By involving the customer in the engineering process, concrete planning is created from an idea within a very short time. In addition, all manufacturing processes can be simulated in advance for precise design.

For prototype production (possible from one piece), Henngineered can draw on a wide range of qualities, materials and technologies. Thanks to predictive optimization, prototype assemblies can be produced that hardly differ from series production. This increases productivity and reduces development and production costs. Series production is also part of Henngineered's range of services. The service providers, now operating under the same name, have many years of experience in mass production. Over 50 million assembly units - or a total of 200 million parts - of the highest precision and quality are produced annually and deep-drawn parts, plastic parts and other components are assembled fully automatically.

Henngineered also supports its customers in the after-sales area, for example by producing small batches retrospectively, keeping spare parts in stock or procuring them, storing tools and developing new products together with them. Finally, Henngineered also offers a wide range of quality assurance measures, from audits to claim management.

Thanks to the combination of valuable skills and services, Henngineered can offer its customers a complete solution and support projects from the initial idea through design to large-scale production. The reduction of interfaces and bureaucracy results in shorter decision-making processes. The available resources and technologies are pooled, which also saves time and money. In addition, this holistic approach increases the quality of products across the entire value chain.
