F-gas calculator

Andreas Mühlbauer,

Online tool for refrigeration systems

Pfannenberg has developed an F-gas calculator for machine builders and industrial end customers. The manufacturer-independent calculator is intuitive to use and is available online free of charge.

OEMs and system operators can use it to determine whether there is a need for action by entering the refrigerant and filling quantity on the rating plate of each chiller. This is because operators are obliged to comply with the new EU Regulation No. 517/2014 on fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases).

Pfannenberg 's calculator determines the Global Warming Potential (GWP) and calculates theCO2 equivalent based on the two entered data for refrigerant and filling quantity. Mechanical engineers and system operators also receive information about the consequences for the operator and corresponding recommendations for action. If the GWP of the refrigerant used is above 2,500 kgCO2/kg refrigerant, there is always a need for the operator to take action. TheCO2 equivalent of a system determines whether a regular leak test and its documentation are required by law.
