Die-cast electronics housing from CTX

CTX Thermal Solutions manufactures cost-effective die-cast housings in application-specific geometries.

The die casting process enables the production of electronic housings in application-specific sizes and shapes and is an economical manufacturing solution even for small batches, despite the tooling costs involved. As even the most demanding geometries can be realized, CNC post-processing is only necessary in areas with particularly high surface requirements.

Typical die-cast materials are aluminum, magnesium and zinc. Depending on the required heat dissipation, the desired geometry and the application-specific housing properties, CTX Thermal Solutions manufactures all housings and, if necessary, carries out the mechanical processing and surface finishing as well as the color design.

Thanks to the die-casting tool required for the production of the housings, any application-specific housing geometry can be easily reproduced and high-quality design combined with low unit costs. It is also possible to create samples and change the design at short notice.

Advantage due to low unit costs

Like all metal enclosures, die-cast aluminum enclosures are particularly recommended for demanding applications in mechanical and plant engineering as well as for high requirements in terms of heat dissipation or electromagnetic shielding (EMC). However, the biggest advantage of the die-casting process is the low unit costs in the series production of electronic housings. For large production quantities of 500 to 1,000 units or more per year, it is advisable to produce a mold with several cavities in order to make the casting process more efficient. This also reduces part costs.

Die-cast aluminum enclosures are reliable even under extreme conditions: they are temperature and chemical resistant, have a high impact resistance and stability, and also achieve a high degree of protection. In many cases, die-cast enclosures from CTX are an excellent alternative to the CNC production of electronic enclosures. CTX supports its customers right from the project planning stage with the creation of all CAD data, 3D models and the delivery of design proposals for production optimization.
