The highlight of the Eplan Platform 2022 is a new user interface that creates a significantly improved user experience. Visually and functionally based on state-of-the-art apps for mobile devices and internationally established desktop applications, the focus here is on simplicity and clarity. Variable tabs give the user a direct overview of important and frequently used functions. The practical multifunction bar with modern ribbon technology adapts flexibly to the application - for example when switching from 2D to 3D. It also combines various menus and toolbars in one. This makes day-to-day work easier for experienced users and at the same time enables an efficient introduction to the software. Eplan has also completely redesigned the user interface for both 2D and 3D planning. The result is a modern application with an optimized look and feel, not least thanks to support for dark and light mode.

Strong performance even for large projects

A new graphics module in the 2D area ensures optimum performance even for large projects. This significantly speeds up processing, especially when importing DXF or DWG files. The new central article management also serves as a performance driver and at the same time offers flexibility when adapting article data thanks to its object-oriented data management. Thanks to the integrated variant management, users can save all article properties with the individual variant. From this, articles can be provided with different macros in no time at all -' also in combination with Excel for simple processing of external article data.

Good overview at project level

With the new backstage view, users can edit all aspects of an Eplan project in one central location - for example, opening and creating projects, importing DWG data or exporting PLC or production data. A list of recently used projects provides a good overview - as does the logical organization of all project-related actions. And the newly integrated insertion center combines all functions for inserting symbols, macros and devices, including a graphical preview, which are required for the efficient creation of circuit diagrams. Frequently used components can be marked as favorites and "tagged" for individual workflows.

Connecting the platform to the cloud

The new platform will be launched in the summer. Among other things, it enables the direct connection of on-premise and cloud. With eManage, projects from the Eplan platform can be uploaded to the cloud environment and shared and managed there. The free version has been available since mid-March. The fact that the Eplan platform 2022 is offered exclusively as a subscription model underlines the focus on the future. Especially in volatile times, the investment risk for companies is reduced thanks to low entry prices and more flexible planning options for individual software use.
