CAD tool keeps databases lean

In design, purchasing or sales, employees search for articles or components every day. In practice, new parts are often ordered or designed faster than existing or similar parts are found.

With the convenient tools classmate FINDER and easyFINDER from simus systems, CAD models and article data can be identified and clearly arranged in a matter of seconds. This saves duplication of work, increases efficiency in design, purchasing and warehousing and keeps databases lean.

The intelligent solutions from the simus classmate software suite facilitate the management of CAD and article data and create benefits in all areas of the company. The tools integrate with CAD, PDM and ERP systems and supplement them with convenient search functions that provide quick and direct access to all relevant information. In addition to geometric searches for models, features or sub-areas, classmate FINDER provides text-oriented queries for keywords, individual values or value ranges. Users can also navigate along a class tree to the desired part. All these search options can be combined.

The browser-based easyFINDER offers almost all the options of the comprehensive FINDER and can also be seamlessly integrated into the CAD system. This means that the designer does not have to open an additional program for the search. The new Model Monitor provides designers with even more convenient search and research options: in the familiar user interface of the CAD systems Autodesk Inventor, Catia, PTC Creo, SolidWorks, Solid Edge or NX Siemens PLM Software, the Model Monitor automatically displays similar components, matching counterparts or tools during the design process.
The software also calculates the estimated manufacturing or procurement costs on the basis of stored data, thus enabling cost-conscious design. This all happens before material masters, parts lists or work plans are created in the ERP system.
It is particularly practical that not only design data, but also information from other sources such as ERP, calculation programs and Excel tables can be brought together in one interface for research.

This allows all employees to use the data without any detours - for example, to create quotations or search for suitable suppliers. This makes work much easier for a wide range of departments. In addition to the search options, workflow-based processes for master data creation, approval and the entire master data maintenance process can also be created with the tools. The classmate easyFINDER can be used not only on PCs, but also on Macs, tablets and smartphones.

In this way, classmate FINDER and easyFINDER not only support many departments of the company with a wide range of research and evaluation options, but also ensure the generation and maintenance of high data quality under the premises of "complete, up-to-date and correct", thus simplifying the transition of companies to Industry 4.0.
