CAD/CAM system
With reverse engineering functions
As reverse engineering is increasingly being used in tool and mold making, Mecadat is adding functions from this area to its new version VISI 2020.0.
These include an extended interface for Hexagon's mobile Romer measuring arms and Leica scanners. This allows point clouds to be loaded and the resulting mesh to be smoothed and refined. Surfaces can then be generated automatically or semi-automatically by deriving reference edges from the smoothed mesh.
Further innovations can be found in the CAD, mold, progress and CAM functions. One example: Since injection molds are used with conformal cooling, VISI now has a sketching tool for defining the cooling path and for generating the channel using predefined or user-specific cross-sections.
