Perception Park
Stemmer acquires stake in software specialist
With Perception Park, the Austrian provider of the Perception System & Studio data processing platform, Stemmer is acquiring a stake in a software specialist for the first time and expanding its product portfolio.
Stemmer is continuing its expansion strategy. The specialist for industrial image processing has acquired a strategic stake in Perception Park, based in Graz, Austria. The company will be consolidated retroactively as of October 1, 2018. With this investment, Stemmer is expanding its product portfolio to include a future technology with high growth potential in the market.
Perception Park is also active in the field of industrial image processing. The company's expertise lies in the software technology Chemical Color Imaging (CCI). Using the intuitively configurable data processing platform Perception System & Studio developed by Perception Park, complex hyperspectral data at molecular level is made usable for industrial image processing. The areas of application for this key technology include the food processing industry, mining, the healthcare sector and the recycling sector.
Compared to conventional image processing systems, hyperspectral systems offer an entire spectrum per object pixel instead of a monochrome or color value. In this way, high-precision color coordinates, chemical material properties or layer thickness information can be derived from the data obtained. This makes chemistry visible.
"We have been working with Perception Park for two years now in a trusting and enriching partnership in every respect. We are convinced that we are adding an important technology to our product portfolio, that we will be able to leverage synergies in the future and, above all, that our customers will benefit," says Lars Böhrnsen, CFO of Stemmer. The purchase price amounts to a low single-digit million figure. as
