New buttons

Sensitive and yet robust

Captron is presenting a new freely programmable probe for the first time at the SPS: The Caneo series 10 with Sensor Fusion Technology and an advanced capacitive measuring principle.

With the Caneo series10, Captron presents a new capacitive pushbutton that is actuated by touch and not by pressure. It is robust and resistant and can be individually adapted for various applications. Thanks to its support for IO-Link and other protocols, it is also suitable for networked environments. The push-button can therefore be connected to all common digital and analog interfaces.

Thanks to IO-Link, the push-button is suitable for networked environments.

The individual adaptability of the series applies to several areas. Practically all operating and electrical parameters can be freely configured. These include the push-button sensitivity and the minimum actuation duration, the dynamics of the actuation, the interface behavior (PNP, NPN, relay, IO-Link) and the general function. The light color and color changes on actuation and parameters such as static or flashing light can also be configured for individual requirements. Because all color channels (red, green, blue) are integrated, more than 16 million different colors can be displayed. Customers also have a choice of predefined pictograms for the display symbol, whether illuminated or dark, as well as the option of supplying their own graphics for integrated printing in the touch surface.

According to the manufacturer, the new Sensor Fusion Technology also enables smooth operation, even in wet and damp environments. This means that the push-button is not triggered by splashing or cleaning water, but only switches when deliberately touched. A photosensitive sensor can measure the ambient brightness around the push-button and automatically adjust the brightness of the push-button lighting. This function will be implemented in the next version of the programming software.

The Caneo series10 is suitable for use in mechanical engineering, robotics, the food and beverage industry as well as in building technology. All functions can be easily configured via a graphical user interface using a PC, smartphone or PLC and adapted at any time. On request, push-buttons can also be supplied pre-configured according to individual requirements.

The push-button is available in a plastic version made from a 2-component mold or stainless steel and, thanks to its high impact resistance, has proven itself even in harsh working environments. At the same time, the push-button is vandal-proof and cannot be destroyed by lighter flames or blows to the contact surface. The pushbutton is certified in accordance with IEC 60947-5-1 and IEC 61010 and complies with all relevant technical standards. According to the manufacturer, the new push-button will be available from fall 2019. as
