New cross table for measuring applications

Steinmeyer Mechatronik has given its KT310 cross table a big brother. The new KT470 measuring stage enables large travel ranges and is therefore primarily used in metrology or for inspecting surfaces.

The KT470 cross table has travels of 300 x 300 millimetres and achieves a repeatability of plus/minus 0.5 micrometres and an accuracy of plus/minus 3.6 micrometres. The manufacturer promises that the new XY system will therefore meet high precision requirements. It is suitable for measuring applications with electronic compensation for system accuracies of up to one micrometer. This is the case in measuring devices, semiconductors and quality assurance, for example.

Thanks to the use of lapped cross roller guides and a ground ball screw, which Steinmeyer manufactures in-house, the measuring stage achieves very low random run-out errors and impresses with its high rigidity and optimum compensation capability. For particularly high demands on repeatability and measuring accuracy, the KT470 is optionally available with a centrally positioned glass scale.

Depending on customer requirements, the XY system is equipped with a stepper motor or DC motor. The DC motor is the first choice for applications with high speeds and low torques. If, on the other hand, the positioning task requires low power and low speeds, the stepper motor is the right choice. In the precision cycle, the recommended load is ten kilograms, the maximum load is 30 kilograms. as
