Wiha brand wins Red Dot

The jury of the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design 2019 is delighted. The international experts awarded the Wiha brand the Red Dot: Best of the Best, making it one of the frontrunners in the competition. Over several days, the experts intensively examined, discussed and evaluated many thousands of brands. Wiha was able to convince the experienced jurors with the highest standards of design and its creative performance. Two company representatives accepted the trophy on behalf of the company at the Red Dot Gala in Berlin's Konzerthaus.

On November 1, 2019, the eyes of the international design scene were on Wiha as the company received its "Red Dot: Best Tools Brand" trophy at the Red Dot Gala that evening. The trophy was presented by Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the Red Dot Award, to company representatives Marie-Theres Guggenbühler and Anne Jakubowski from the Marketing Communication department. The latter congratulated the award winners in advance: "Convincing the Red Dot jury is no easy task. Our experts are very critical and examine all submissions very carefully on the basis of strict criteria before deciding whether to award a prize. They have also applied this care in particular to the newly introduced category for brands. The winners of the Red Dot: Best of the Best, who impressed the jury with their very high level of design quality and creative achievement, can be all the more proud."

Mario Sommer, Head of Marketing at Wiha, explains: "Our brand is more than just a name and an associated logo. For us, it represents a complete package of many years of tradition and development as well as a promise of quality, reliability and responsibility. It also acts as a figurehead for what we stand for and how we work." The current brand image reflects exactly what makes the family business tick and how it is geared towards the future, Sommer continues. "Wiha has always been characterized by a strong desire for innovation and progress. We strive for developments and solutions that make everyday working life noticeably easier for users. Aspects such as maintaining health, functionality, safety and sustainable design play a decisive role in this. The corresponding brand appearance with a meaningful and modern communication mix acts as an ambassador and emotion carrier for all of this."

In recent years, Wiha has consistently created a completely new brand perception across all channels: In print, online and social media, in campaigns and trade fair appearances, on German television or in the use of completely new technologies, such as virtually created worlds. "Being honored as Best Tools Brand 2019 in the Red Dot competition is a very special confirmation for Wiha after this extensive development process and in the company's 80th anniversary year, and the global Wiha team is delighted," concludes Marketing Manager Mario Sommer.
