Remmert celebrates 75th company anniversary

Shortly after the end of the Second World War, Friedrich Heinrich Remmert founded his construction and metalworking company in Löhne, Westphalia, in 1945. Now the mechanical engineering company is celebrating its 75th anniversary.

"We make material flow", with this statement, the logistics expert from Löhne today stands for state-of-the-art material flow solutions, but the family-run company has had to overcome many hurdles and challenges to grow from a building and metalworking shop to the successful company it is today.

Remmert underwent its first major change in the 1960s and 1970s with the transition from craftsmanship to industrial production: As the new managing director, Friedrich Gottlieb Remmert transformed the company into a supplier for machine factories with a focus on steel and mechanical engineering work, realizing tailor-made special constructions at the customer's request. Remmert installed its first fully automated long goods warehouse in 1972.

In the years that followed, the product portfolio and services were systematically expanded in order to be future-proof. In 1982, the first automatic sheet metal storage system was installed, which is still in operation today. For the first time, the system could be integrated into the customer's logistics processes in a value-adding manner and transferred directly to processing machines.

Remmert opened a new administration building in 2000 and a new assembly hall in Löhne in 2009. In the years that followed, both the product range and international activities were successively expanded, further consolidating the company's position as a logistics expert. With the introduction of the Flex family, consisting of the Laserflex in 2008, the extension in 2015 and the Sortflex in 2019, Remmert laid further foundations for the full automation of laser systems and manufacturer-independent integration, for example.

Remmert has been a family-run company for three generations now, managed by Stephan Remmert since 1992 and Matthias Remmert since 2000. In addition, there are around 140 employees who contribute significantly to the success and are an important cornerstone of the company.
