Just-in-time order provision

Pallet buffer reduces waiting time at the ramp

Where mixed-load pallets require sequencing, solutions are needed that guarantee error-free and rapid just-in-time order provision in outgoing goods. This is why Kardex Mlog has developed the dynamic pallet buffer MSequence.

The MSequence aims to optimize the entire staging process for picked pallets in shipping and at the truck ramp. The staging system is suitable for all industries that are struggling with increasing diversification, short delivery times and mixed pallets. As a general rule, whenever pallet provisioning is a bottleneck in the supply chain, for example in the dispatch area, process automation should be considered.

Reduce waiting times and error rates at the ramp

The automation of the previously largely manual dispatch preparation process not only significantly reduces waiting times at the ramp, but also the error rate - and therefore the number of returns. In addition, space efficiency is significantly improved thanks to the high staging capacity in a small area: the expensive storage space can be fully utilized and does not have to be kept as a traffic area.

Overall, warehouse efficiency increases thanks to higher throughput, less reworking and a reduction in personnel costs. A positive side effect: the loading process is completely transparent and reproducible - important for quality assurance measures and batch tracking.

Standard modules individually assembled

According to Kardex, the MSequence is an economical solution based on standardized modules that can be individually configured for the respective requirements and spatial conditions on site. The basic package consists of an automatic storage and retrieval machine, the rack structure, a storage conveyor and three gravity roller conveyors for retrieval. The system is controlled via an S7 PLC and the integrated warehouse management software.

This base is available in various configurations, which can also be adapted to changing requirements by adding shelf extensions and additional conveyor lines. In the Speed version with double-deep storage, the system offers space for 176 pallets to be loaded on four levels on a base area of eight by 17 meters (carcass). This means that sorted provision can be realized on an area of around 225 square metres in Germany for less than 300,000 euros. By comparison, the conventional solution takes up well over 700 square meters.

The volume version for 240 pallets (four-deep) on a shelf base area of ten by 17 meters and with a maximum buffer capacity for more than eight truckloads is even more space-efficient thanks to multiple-deep storage. What all models have in common is their high throughput capacity. Kardex Mlog calculates with up to 64 (Speed) and 57 (Volume) double cycles per hour, which shortens the loading time per truck with reduced personnel costs. as
