One platform, lots of digitalization

Grenzebach will be demonstrating the added value offered by its in-house digitalization platform - from the efficient development of modern IIoT applications to the use of augmented reality applications for maintenance work.

The motto of this year's Hannover Messe is "Integrated Industry - Industrial Intelligence". Grenzebach can demonstrate in a series of scenarios how the company's own digitalization platform enables an intelligent and integrated approach in the factory of the future.

Open for machines and interfaces
"Complex production processes can be fully mapped using our digitalization solution. It is also possible to collect and utilize data for process monitoring and the further development of machines and recipes. The entire system has a modular structure that allows additional machines and interfaces - including those from third-party providers - to be integrated at any time. In this way, we offer producers and providers of system solutions a development platform that is also open for new applications that we are not even aware of today," says Dr. Clemens Weis, responsible for Grenzebach Digital GmbH.

Trade fair visitors can experience how the platform works at the stand by having a giveaway produced - customized on request. Once the order has been generated on the tablet, it is sent to the digitization platform. This processes the order and controls all the equipment.

First, an L1200S automated guided vehicle sets off and delivers the raw material to a transfer station for the MR10S Mobile Robot. The Mobile Robot takes the raw material from the goods carrier and transports it to the next station. Once there, the robot transfers the workpiece. The Grenzebach employee selects the corresponding work order via an app on the IIoT platform and starts the production process. The visitor can then receive their finished gift.

Practical benefits non-stop
Whether central order data management, accurate information about the status of the machines (e.g. loading status or mileage of the automated guided vehicles) or production process parameters - everything can be displayed intuitively thanks to the IIoT platform. Weis: "Our platform makes it possible to structure highly complex processes. Mapping, linking, tracking and expanding process steps: the IIoT platform makes all of this possible."

The process data that the digitalization platform consolidates and evaluates creates its very own added value: statistics, analyses and reports that can be used by specialist departments in-house as a basis for their own projects and further process improvements.

Open for tomorrow's applications
"Our IIoT platform is also open to customers to further develop their processes and systems according to the requirements of their industry for today and tomorrow," notes Dr. Clemens Weis. Customers can develop additional, specific applications themselves at any time. These applications are available for all of the customer's production facilities via the app store.

New machines and interfaces - including those from third-party providers - can also be integrated at any time. The platform's connectivity enables the quick and easy integration of various machines on the store floor and higher-level systems such as the customer's ERP.

The platform is constantly being further developed by a network of partners. Thanks to the software architecture, new functions can be easily integrated and thus made practicable by the user community. "For example, our platform opens up the possibility of integrating augmented reality applications to support service or even the operation of systems," explains Clemens Weis.

Virtual reality for design, simulation and maintenance
Grenzebach will also be showing what digitalization approaches make possible in everyday industrial work today and tomorrow: The spectrum ranges from the design and construction of production systems with virtual reality support to the simulation of complex process chains.

Thanks to augmented reality, Grenzebach service experts can support customers on the other side of the world with complex maintenance work, simplifying and speeding it up. as
