On course for self-build
Automated guided vehicles. EK Automation is currently undergoing a fundamental change in strategy: in future, the AGV specialist not only wants to convert vehicles from other manufacturers, but also enter vehicle production itself with the new Vario-Move series.
EK Automation from Rosengarten near Hamburg specializes in building tailor-made, high-quality industrial trucks for its customers. Until now, this has been based on vehicles from other manufacturers, which the company converts for driverless or special use. The disadvantage of this solution to date has been relatively long delivery times. This is why the company is now focusing on its own production. The new series should cut delivery times in half.
Modular concept
With Vario Move, a separate standard has been developed for this purpose: The new vehicle consists of a drive unit and various attachments. Regardless of whether the user requires a lifting or transport vehicle, the same drive unit is always used, equipped with different load handling attachments for the respective transport tasks. The front end is designed so that various load handling attachments can be easily attached to a standard interface. Standardized modules are available for this purpose, which can be quickly and easily integrated or separated again. The selection of the range of load handling attachments is based on many years of experience.
The Vario-Move vehicles are equipped with the latest safety technology. All major navigation technologies available on the market can be used for the automated transport vehicles. Their Li-ion energy system is maintenance-free and enables fully automated charging, which ensures high system availability. Overall, the system consists of components with a particularly long service life, which, with appropriate maintenance and care, can double the service life of conventional automated industrial trucks.
Simplified maintenance
A gas spring-supported cover on the top of the vehicle allows easy and ergonomic access to the vehicle controls. In addition, the entire front cover can be removed like an engine hood in just a few simple steps, exposing the entire technology - meaning that all components can be worked on without time-consuming disassembly. The lower section of the front of the vehicle, which contains the necessary safety technology, such as personal protection scanners, is also integrated separately. This means that this particularly solidly constructed bumper area can be replaced quickly, easily and separately in the event of damage. dsc
