Safely through the warehouse with electronics
37 new vehicles from Unicarriers ensure a smooth flow of goods at logistics service provider Nex Logistics in Bedburg. In addition to the forklift trucks, Unicarriers also supplied the associated battery changing systems.
Nex Logistics operates the European logistics center of a manufacturer of consumer electronics and office communication devices in Bedburg. The logistics service provider has been working with Unicarriers since the warehouse site was opened in 2009 and uses around 50 of the brand's forklift trucks on site.
The scope of delivery of the new vehicles includes seven UHD reach trucks, 15 PPL low-lift order pickers, 13 PMR low-lift trucks and two EPH high-lift order pickers. The vehicles are used for handling and picking the high-quality electronic devices. Once the goods have been delivered and palletized, the low-lift trucks transport the pallets to the high-bay warehouse. The reach trucks are responsible for storage and retrieval in the wide-aisle warehouse, which is up to 12.5 meters high. Thanks to an ergonomic seat with a tilting backrest and an integrated camera system, they are ideal for working at great heights. For order picking, the reach trucks place the required pallets on the lowest shelf level. There, the goods are picked in the required quantity using the PPL order pickers and then prepared for dispatch in the staging zone. The two high-lift order pickers are used exclusively for permanent stocktaking.
Automatic battery change in one minute
Unicarriers also provides its customers with the equipment they need to operate their forklifts. This includes the VOM fleet management system, which monitors the duration of use and documents any damage to the vehicles.
The company is also equipping the warehouse with battery changing systems. The so-called Battsman is used for the low-lift devices. This transports the discharged battery to a charging station and picks up a full battery there. The batteries of the reach trucks, which weigh up to 800 kilograms, are replaced fully automatically within one minute using a Fast Track Power Plus system. This maximizes the operating time of the trucks, while the drivers benefit from a safe and ergonomic changing system. UniCarriers developed both solutions in-house. as
