Pocket sorting system
Dematic presents the second generation of its bag sorting system. The automated hanging system on roller adapters can be used to store, sort and buffer hanging and flat-packed goods as well as flat-packed items and cartons.
This makes the system suitable for use in returns processing and fulfillment at e-commerce companies. Technical advantage: stable system reliability with low maintenance frequency. The second-generation plastic chain system based on rolling friction is more efficient than conventional metal chain systems, as smaller drive forces are required. In addition, the improved technology enables higher throughputs and shorter access times. The returned items are placed manually or automatically in the sorter's pockets, which rotate in the system until the item they contain is requested again. In this way, only a fraction of the goods need to be sorted back into the warehouse.
The hanging pockets can hold items up to a size of 500 x 400 x 200 millimetres and a weight of up to five kilograms. The system can also be used without pockets. In this case, for example, it is possible to hang clothes hangers directly - an advantage for delicate hanging garments. Thanks to its modular design, the sorting system is scalable and expandable for different capacities.
