Fleet at Agrarfrost
Frozen on the road with the electric forklift truck
Potato freezer specialist Agrarfrost is now using electric drives for all its industrial trucks. The entire fleet of more than 70 forklift trucks and warehouse trucks will be replaced by electric vehicles with lithium-ion technology.
"By converting the fleet to electric forklifts, we have achieved several improvements: The vehicle drive is simpler, safer and cleaner. Equipping the vehicles with access control and special lighting features, for example, increases the safety of employees, operations and goods. At the same time, we can also adapt our production processes to the latest certifications," says Sean Michael Ridley, Head of Logistics Technology at the Agrarfrost site in Aldrup and responsible for the environmentally friendly forklift fleet.
At the Aldrup and Oschersleben sites, more than 30 forklifts and lift trucks of the latest forklift generation are already in use. The aim is to convert all vehicles in both Agrarfrost plants to the modern electric forklift fleet by the beginning of 2020.
"At Agrarfrost, sustainability encompasses the entire production process. This includes internal transportation in the deep-freeze warehouses as well as transportation across the entire factory site at both locations," explains Agrarfrost Managing Director Manfred Wulf. "The new industrial trucks have proven themselves very well in their first uses in the Agrarfrost deep-freeze warehouse. They offer full performance during an eight-hour shift. The new vehicles even allow the lithium-ion battery to be recharged during breaks. What's more, the usual maintenance work is significantly reduced with the new vehicles," says Ridley, summing up the benefits of the new electric forklift fleet. as
