Container management

Filled, used, folded, cleaned, refilled

Container management. Millions of parts leave the supply industry every day to be installed in cars. Chep offers reusable packaging solutions that enable an effective logistics process and product protection.

On time and safely in the right quantity at the right place - in the automotive industry it is important to move products such as catalytic converters, engine parts and batteries in large quantities sustainably and efficiently. By sharing and reusing Chep's load carriers and modular container system, suppliers and car manufacturers can reduce costs, risks, storage requirements and administration. According to the pooling principle, payment is only made for those containers that are actually used. The supply chain expert organizes the return, cleaning, maintenance and recycling itself. These steps are therefore not within the risk area of the automotive industry.

The reusable, foldable and robust transport platforms and containers with various inserts and accessories are specially designed to optimize the supply chain in the automotive industry. Stackable inside each other, they require little space and thus ensure better utilization of the loading space of trucks. Small load carriers (KLT containers) are the solution for space-saving and secure packaging of smaller components such as turbochargers, screws, plugs, brake disks, pipes, pumps and filters. Matching lids allow these packaging elements to be stacked on a Chep pallet as a load unit to save space.

The foldable large containers (FLCs) offer a high level of product protection and load stability to safely transport not only several packaged, smaller components, but also larger products. Typical applications include the transportation of catalytic converters, radiator grilles, gearboxes, engine parts and batteries in large volumes. When not in use, the large containers can be folded up to save storage space. Compared to conventional solutions, they enable up to 25 percent higher utilization of full and empty containers. They eliminate the need for disposable packaging, which is usually not only heavier but also expensive and time-consuming to dispose of. Once at their destination, the containers can be quickly unloaded in just a few simple steps thanks to their design.

For transporting vehicle parts across continents, Chep offers its Isobins and Icoqubes optimized for sea freight containers - for fewer risks and inefficiencies in the supply chain. Like the large containers, these are collapsible and can be easily filled and emptied. Maximum space utilization was a key factor in their development, so that more products can travel in fewer sea containers and with fewerCO2 emissions. as
