Maintenance of photovoltaic systems
Photovoltaic systems (PV systems) are becoming increasingly important as part of the energy transition. Private households have long been supplementing their energy portfolio with electricity from the sun, and large companies are using the resources professionally.
In standardization, the construction of the systems has so far played a prominent role. With the new VDI 2883 Sheet 1, there is now also a reliable guideline for the operating phase. The guideline provides companies and individuals involved in the maintenance of photovoltaic systems with clear instructions and thus simplifies reliable and safe operation.
The scope of application of VDI 2883 Sheet 1 is the maintenance of grid-connected PV systems, in particular large systems with higher rated outputs. The recommendations for action therefore mainly apply to commercial photovoltaic systems. They can be adopted analogously for smaller systems, but may then have to be adapted.
The directive sets out the requirements for inspection and testing, documentation and the qualifications of maintenance personnel. The scope of application also includes maintenance, repair and the associated spare parts inventory, as well as exemplary test and event logs. The guideline applies to both PV modules and other components of the photovoltaic system. The priority of VDI 2883 Sheet 1 is system safety and the establishment and maintenance of system functionality with particular consideration of economic efficiency.
