The momentum is increasing
Systems in the semiconductor industry work with cycle times of one second or less. High dynamics are therefore required of the pick-and-place units.

Axle and portal construction kit
FLT has developed a modular axis and gantry construction kit with which various sizes of highly dynamic gantry robots and axes can be realized. The LGR-3 is the first linear gantry robot to be fully assembled from this modular system.
Linear technology in the clean room. Mechanical components such as linear guides, telescopic rails and linear axes must be carefully selected in medical technology and healthcare.

Memotec has launched new rotary stroke modules with two degrees of freedom. According to the manufacturer, they combine rotary and linear movements, work precisely and are resilient.

Nexen presents the I-300 spring-applied brake. The holding brake designed for rotary tables and positioning systems is backlash-free and has a high holding torque. In the event of a power failure, the model applies automatically and is therefore also suitable as an emergency holding brake.

The Eugen Koch design office presents a flexible camera stand for microscopy. It is adjustable in four axes; all viewing planes can be positioned precisely without shaking the project.
For the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, the athletes in ski cross and ski jumping have rehearsed and optimized their starts thousands of times. To this end, ACE supplied components for start training to German and Austrian Olympic training centers.

Winkel in Illingen, a specialist in linear and handling technology, is launching new aluminum profiles for mechanical engineering. The profiles for Speed+Silence and Speed+Force linear systems complement the existing steel and stainless steel supports.

In order for e-bikes to run as quietly as possible, both the drives and the installed components must be optimized accordingly. Igus offers individually manufactured drive elements such as sprockets made from high-performance plastics using the 3D printing process. The special solutions are lubrication- and maintenance-free and reduce the noise level.
IEF-Werner has built a prototype for the EU research project Selsus in which an intelligent toothed belt axis permanently monitors its own condition and performance and analyzes wear. It also communicates with other components via a cloud connection and can therefore keep production running if there is a risk of failure.

Interested parties can now calculate and design the gas spring tailored to their application on the ACE homepage. The tool has a completely graphical user interface and a choice of 2D and 3D views.
Ball transfer units from Dr. Tretter
With the standard ball transfer units from Dr. Tretter, users can move loads of different weights effortlessly and thus ensure a smooth material flow. New to the range are the ball transfer units from the Air Cargo series, which are particularly lightweight with an increased load capacity.

Child safety lock with Iglidur
Seven students at TU Darmstadt, supported by Igus, have developed a child safety lock for cleaning agent bottles. The device is screwed onto the bottle, and access is secured via an app. An Iglidur plain bearing ensures the lubricant-free and reliable closing mechanism.

With the rodless air cylinder series ZX from Airtec, the required installation space is halved, the manufacturer promises. The ZX-K short cylinders in this series are designed to save even more space.

Dr. Tretter will be focusing on its tolerance sleeves at the FMB-Süd supplier trade fair. The force-fit connecting elements can be used in a variety of ways. Users can easily loosen and replace them. This gives them an advantage over pressed and glued connections.

With the double tube units of the EP(X)-II series, RK Rose+Krieger offers a robust solution for the occasional to multiple daily movement and positioning of medium to high loads in any installation position. Following on from size 40, another popular axis size, size 30, has now been added to the portfolio.
Industrial shock absorbers from ACE
Overpressure in refinery pipes can lead to catastrophic consequences. In the event of overpressure, safety valves must therefore be opened in fractions of a second. Neither electric actuators nor pneumatic actuators are an option here. The Doedijns Group and ACE shock absorbers have developed a customized solution.

With the TKK series, Tsubaki presents a new cable drag chain for small installation spaces in harsh environmental conditions, as required in lifts and work platforms.
Dr. Tretter at the All about automation
At All about automation in Hamburg (January 24-25), Dr. Tretter will be presenting the Movitec and Monocarrier series of linear units, which can be used for positioning and handling tasks and integrated into various applications.
