Lubrication system
Small lubrications extend chain life
Iwis has developed a new minimum quantity lubrication system for chain drives that makes it easy to extend chain service life.
Regular maintenance and lubrication are basic prerequisites for low wear and a longer service life of chain drives. After all, more than two thirds of all cases of chain failure can be avoided with proper relubrication. Reason enough for the Munich-based chain manufacturer Iwis to expand its chain portfolio with a service-oriented product: the new CLA lubrication system (CLA = Chain Lubrication Application) uses a special applicator to permanently deliver lubricant to the chain drive and other components.
With the new lubrication system for chain drives, Iwis Engineering, the company's own research and development department, has focused on maintenance. The aim was to extend chain service life with the help of the right chain lubrication. The result: an efficient minimum quantity lubrication system.
The special applicator serves as a reservoir from which small quantities of lubricant are continuously dispensed to the drive chain in use - and only where they are needed. This prevents the roller chain from being undersupplied with lubricant during use or unnecessary amounts of oil being released on the chain and in the vicinity of the chain drive.
The CLA pumps can either be operated separately with a timer or easily integrated into the machine PLC. The compact size facilitates retrofitting in existing machines and systems. With a pump pressure of up to 70 bar, up to 16 lubrication points can be supplied with sufficient oil thanks to the distributor, without contaminating the environment and wasting valuable lubricant. The special applicators made of PU foam are extremely resistant and are also available in individual designs. as
