Motor assembly in less than five minutes

Thomson, manufacturer of mechanical drive solutions, is launching a revised redimount option: a pre-assembled, modular mounting kit for efficient motor or gearbox assembly in less than five minutes.

This improved design now forms the standard for Thomson's linear actuator systems and precision linear actuators - and is therefore included in the recommendations of the company's own Linear Motioneering design and selection tool.

Alexander Schollin, Product Line Specialist EMEA & Asia at Thomson, explains: "Delivery times have been significantly reduced as the motor and gearbox systems can now be delivered with a pre-assembled redimount. In the past, valuable time was spent finding the optimum flange adapter and then laboriously assembling the individual components after delivery. Today, our optimized option is simply ordered, saving time not only on delivery times but also on subsequent engine assembly."

Redimount covers a range of different motor types and sizes as well as gearboxes, which can be mounted to the linear systems and actuators faster and with less effort than before. "Redimount also includes updated intelligent part numbers with unique motor identifiers that identify the motor or gearbox manufacturer and type," adds Schollin. "For engineers working with old product numbers, we have developed a converter that converts the previous product number to the new one, including the engine ID."

The tool can also be used to quickly check whether the motor delivers sufficient power and meets the application specifications. This is a decisive improvement, especially for the project-based development of machine builders and automation manufacturers. as
