The software uses artificial intelligence to recognize the products to be picked without the need for training and independently plans collision-free removal. The items are then placed in a target container. No expert knowledge is required for object recognition. Unknown objects are picked up automatically. The solution increases productivity and significantly reduces error rates.

Relief from monotonous activities

Until now, only humans have been able to flexibly recognize, pick up and place a wide variety of objects in warehouses or intralogistics in factories and spare parts warehouses. The work is often monotonous and requires ergonomically unfavorable movements.

With Smart Item Picking, Bosch Rexroth offers an economical alternative to manual picking. The central software uses artificial intelligence to recognize the items to be picked without having to be programmed or trained beforehand. It does not matter whether the items are stored in the bins in a structured or disorganized manner. The software automatically calculates the optimum gripping points and collision-free paths for reaching into the crate within milliseconds. Smart Item Picking enables the automated handling of an almost unlimited assortment.

Modular design

Hardware and software components have a modular design and support standard cameras, grippers and robots from various manufacturers. This means that customized solutions for objects of different sizes and weights can be implemented from a modular system of industrially proven components.

Open interfaces and standardized protocols such as OPC UA ensure seamless communication with warehouse management and ERP systems as well as Internet of Things and cloud applications.
