CEBIT 2018
Digital Health
Health apps collect body and fitness data, operations are broadcast live worldwide and appointments with doctors are made online. Digital health poses new challenges for the healthcare sector.
CEBIT 2018 will show what effects the healthcare system, patients and doctors can expect as part of the d!talk healthcare conference with an extensive lecture program. The first speakers have already confirmed their participation, including Dr. Axel Wehmeier, CEO of Deutsche Telekom Healthcare and Security Solutions: "Connectivity".
Digital Health highlights the influence of digitalization and thus the application of state-of-the-art information and communication technologies in the healthcare sector. The focus here is on optimizing healthcare provision. According to a survey by the digital association Bitkom and the Bavarian Telemed Alliance (BTA), around 45% of German smartphone owners use health apps to record their body and fitness data. The option of digitizing one's own patient records is also in demand. For example, 32% of respondents stated that they had already received medical examination results on CD and a further 43% would like to receive the results in digital form in the future.
However, the market for digital health applications is still not transparent for users, health insurance companies, service providers and companies alike. One of the reasons for this is the wide range of offerings and the strong dynamics due to the continuous additions, expansions and withdrawals of offerings in this area. Another point is the great demand for sufficient data protection. The majority of German citizens surveyed (74%) demand a right of co-determination with regard to their digital medical data.
"Medical science and clinical care will be transformed by digitalization in an almost revolutionary way. As healthcare is a rather conservative sector, it is lagging somewhat behind other industries such as consumer goods, retail and finance. However, this has the advantage that the mistakes made in other industries can be avoided and at the same time the visions and also the realities created in the meantime from other industries serve as inspiration and role models. With its new, special format, CEBIT offers the opportunity to experience 'Digital Health in one day': Where are we today? Where can and will digitalization in the healthcare industry take us? What can we learn from others? And how does that feel? No other event combines the focus and breadth of the topic like the new CEBIT on June 13, 2018," explains Prof. Matthias P. Schönermark, M. D., Ph. D., Managing Director of SKC Beratungsgesellschaft mbH and partner of this year's d!talk healthcare conference.
