Balluff sees CC-Link IE TSN as a key factor in the development of highly networked device systems that communicate deterministically and are seamlessly connected to IT systems and higher-level management applications.

The IO-Link product range is part of Balluff's core business and already includes components that are compatible with CLPA's open network technologies - the CC-Link fieldbus and the open Gigabit Ethernet CC-Link IE. Now the company is turning its attention to industrial communication by offering solutions for the requirements of digital transformation.

"The market today demands that components such as vision systems are integrated and has a correspondingly higher bandwidth requirement. The ability to vertically integrate machine networks into the IT infrastructure is also becoming increasingly important. The fact that the data traffic of both areas can be organized efficiently in the same network is a major step forward in this context. This is why CC-Link IE TSN is so exciting. It enables smart integration from essential machine control to IT communication in one network. Data exchange from applications with very short cycle times can be transferred without conflict with data from devices that use the TCP/IP protocol, for example. Less complex physical networks that are smart in operation simplify both integration and support," says Manuel Solano, Product Manager at Balluff.

TSN makes it possible to build flexible, convergent systems for the smart factory. CC-Link IE TSN is the first Ethernet technology to combine gigabit bandwidth and TSN functions in order to cope with the data growth typical of Industry 4.0 applications. In this way, it supports the convergence of IT and operational technology (OT).
