Advanced communication at field level

Ultra-fast pressure transmitter KS-I with IO-Link interface

Gefran is expanding its range of solutions for Industry 4.0: the new pressure sensors in the KS-I series have a digital IO-Link 1.1 output and advanced diagnostic functions. They measure pressure and temperature at a high sampling rate of 1,000 s/s. This allows them to communicate with the IO-Link master at the maximum available speed for IO-Link communication of 230.4 kBaud or COM3.

"Our IO-Link solutions digitize the data collected at field level. This makes it easier for our customers to transition to a data-driven company," explains Torsten Fuchs, Managing Director of Gefran Germany. The extended connectivity of the new pressure transmitters enables the recording of a wide range of acyclical information that is essential for predictive maintenance in the context of Industry 4.0. In addition to the maximum pressure and temperature values, this also includes peak values reached and the number of working hours.

With regard to the cyclical data, the two detailed parameterizable switching logic signal channels SSC and two physical SIO outputs are of particular importance. The sensors are available for measuring ranges from 4 bar to 1000 bar, with an accuracy of less than ±0.5 % FS, including non-linearity, hysteresis, repeatability as well as zero and full scale offset. In addition, the extended process temperature range of -40°C to +125°C ensures excellent stability in the compensated range.

The measuring element of the KS pressure transmitters is protected by a steel diaphragm. This makes the sensors highly resistant to mechanical shocks and vibrations and immune to electromagnetic interference. Thanks to the IP67 degree of protection, the entire product range is also particularly suitable for a wide range of hydraulic and pneumatic applications.

"The Internet of Things (IoT) thrives on intelligent production processes. These require reliable sensors that minimize errors and optimize process performance through highly accurate measurements. Our pressure transmitters in the new KS-I series meet these requirements in terms of high measurement accuracy and integration into all levels of process automation," explains Torsten Fuchs.
