Yamaha's iVY2 machine vision system for robots takes advantage of special vision instructions from the RCX340 multi-robot controller to simplify line setup and improve performance.
Yamaha has introduced the next generation vision system for its flexible range of Scara, orbital, Cartesian, single and multi-axis robots. Based on the RCX340 robot controller, the iVY2 vision system is designed to simplify line setup, increase performance and integrates the functions of the machine vision system into the robot control program for the first time, increasing efficiency and simplifying operation.
iVY2 supports cameras up to five megapixels to enable high-resolution images for fast and stable workpiece detection. In addition, software wizard-guided auto-calibration and three-step workpiece detection eliminate time-consuming setup tasks. Users can complete setup up to 80 percent faster, according to the manufacturer.
Other features of the iVY2 vision system include an image edge search engine that improves part recognition under difficult lighting conditions and a DVI-I output that allows the user to analyze the search status at any time, even during calibration or when the robot is working automatically. Parameters for up to 254 part types can be stored in the system.
Compatibility with the RCX340 controller allows iVY2 to utilize special vision instructions that simplify programming and speed up the search and tracking of components in conjunction with the optional RCX340 tracking board. Detection time is reduced by up to 50 percent, allowing the iVY2 to recognize a large number of parts on the conveyor belt at high speed, improving robot pick-up.
iVY2 comes with the iVY2 Studio graphical configuration and monitoring environment and Yamaha support services, which include preliminary vision application evaluation, equipment selection consultation and training. Equipment options include CCD and CMOS cameras, standard and megapixel lenses, cables and a dedicated illumination control board and accessories. as
