Kathrein Solutions
RFID reader with new connection concept
Kathrein Solutions is launching the Aru 2400, a new RAIN RFID reader that is designed to be as easy to install as it is to operate.
The Aru 2400 offers new options for mounting and connections. The housing can be installed in existing shelves using mounting points for item profiles. According to the manufacturer, the plugs and sockets are easy to use. For the power supply and the connection strip for the digital inputs and outputs, a plug-in strip with screw terminals is installed for direct cable installation.
The device also has antenna connections according to the Fakra standard. These antenna connectors, familiar from automotive technology, are robust and vibration-resistant. The coded connectors click into place and are connected in seconds, which makes installation easier in large rollout projects and reduces hardware costs.
Kathrein also relies on the RAIN RFID front end for the Aru 2400 reader. This is designed to enable reliable reading of RAIN RFID transponders within a range of up to three meters. The integrated SMSH-HG antenna system with an aperture angle of 60°/60° also enables the transponders to be detected with high selectivity in the desired reading field.
In addition, the reader in the 27 dBm class has the Kathrein antenna interface Krai on its three external antenna connections in order to be able to control dynamic and intelligent antennas. Depending on the power requirements, up to eight antennas per Fakra port can be controlled in a cascade. This reduces costs by up to 40 percent, especially in applications with several reading points, such as Kanban racks. The additional position information via the individual antennas enables the load carriers to be localized.

Schnelle Identifikation
The built-in digital inputs and outputs are designed to enable simple control of external sensors or actuators. According to the manufacturer, the new Aru 2400 is suitable for all simple AutoID applications in the industrial, intralogistics and healthcare sectors. as
