These compact and robust devices, which support Gigabit or Fast Ethernet and are available with or without PoE function, each have an electrical RJ45 and an SFP port that can be flexibly equipped with transceivers for single and multimode fibers. This allows transmission distances of up to 20 kilometers to be achieved.

Because the data packets are transmitted bit by bit, a latency of less than 500 nanoseconds is guaranteed, regardless of their length. This means that the media converters are also suitable for real-time protocols such as Varan or Sercos. Application scenarios include, in particular, the connection of remotely positioned end devices such as controllers, HMIs, drives or IP cameras to a local network.
