Image processing for driver assistance systems

Vision Components has presented a driver assistance system for logistics vehicles. The system detects people behind a forklift truck and informs the machine operator with acoustic and visual signals.

This increases personal safety in production halls and warehouses. The Swedish image processing OEM Retenua has developed the solution based on a stereo camera from Vision Components ' VC-Z series. This series offers board cameras and stand-alone models with protective housing, 2D and stereo vision cameras as well as 3D laser sensors. The manufacturer supplies all models with various CMOS sensors, including Sony Pregius image sensors. Vision Components achieves very high clock rates during integration, for example 88 fps at resolutions of up to 3.2 MP or 170 fps at 1.6 MP. This means that high-speed applications can also be implemented. In addition to the wide range of embedded vision systems, the manufacturer also offers software libraries.
