EMC cable entry

Lets the cable through when split

The dissipation and shielding of electromagnetic interference is very important for electrical I&C equipment. With the EMC-KVT-DS, Icotek has developed another product in the field of EMC.

Shield-bound interference is transmitted from the interference source directly via the cable shield of supply or signal lines to the interference sink. The earthing of the cable shield plays an important role in this case. All capacitive and inductive influences of electric or magnetic fields are referred to as field-bound interference. The field-bound interference is transmitted to the interference sink, for example, as the electromagnetic field of a cable as an interference source and received there by a conductor acting as an antenna.

These interference fields are shielded. The remedy for both types of interference is a combination of large-area contacting of the cable shield to divert the interference to a conductive housing wall and simultaneous shielding of the interference fields from the inside of the housing.

The new, separable EMC-KVT-DS cable gland is based on the Icotek KVT product and is an alternative to conventional EMC cable glands. The big difference is that the entire system can be split. The cable gland itself and the necessary cable grommets are designed in such a way that cables with plugs can be inserted without any problems (without unsoldering or soldering on the plugs). The manufacturer's warranty for the pre-assembled cables is therefore retained. The metallized gland body of the EMC-KVT-DS is highly conductive and also offers IP54 protection.

Two grommets installed in EMC cable gland
The open cable gland is fitted with two grommets. The EMC-KT is the highly conductive cable grommet for contacting the cable shield over 360 degrees to dissipate conducted interference. The cable is stripped and the sensitive cable shield is exposed. Contact is made on the highly conductive grommet and then on the conductive, metallized cable gland body. The cable grommet (KT) is used for strain relief and sealing the EMC-KVT-DS. Sealing takes place via the outer cable sheath. The metallized gland body keeps field-bound interference away from the inside of the housing.

Contact to the housing is made by means of an EMC locknut. The paint on the back of the housing is automatically "scratched free" when the screws are tightened and does not need to be removed separately. The locknut is made of nickel-plated brass.

The EMV-KT-DS is equipped with the metric thread M32x1.5. The thread length is 14 millimeters. The products are halogen and silicone-free and approved for a temperature range of minus 40 to plus 90 degrees Celsius. as
