New with outdoor rating
Eaton frequency inverters: Fit for field service
Eaton has revised the devices in the compact DC1 frequency inverter series with IP66 protection: The range now includes devices in four sizes, while the DC1 portfolio now has an outdoor rating for high UV resistance.
The DC1 is the compact frequency inverter in the PowerXL family from energy management company Eaton that has been tried and tested for years. It was specially developed for simple applications such as fans, pumps and conveyors. With 14 basic parameters, the DC1 frequency inverters can be put into operation quickly and parameterization can also be carried out via the DrivesConnect mobile smartphone app. All devices also have a CANopen and Modbus RTU interface. The range has now been extended by a further size and now includes devices in four sizes - up to 22 kW at 400 V (three-phase input).
The DC1 controls highly efficient motors such as IE4 asynchronous, permanent magnet, synchronous reluctance or brushless DC motors. Either V/f control or sensorless vector control are available as control modes. The PI controller, which is also integrated, allows a control loop to be set up. All types are equipped with a 7-segment display and are optionally available with an integrated EMC filter or brake chopper. Simple, plug-in extension modules offer the option of extending the number of I/Os, for example. In addition to protection class IP20 for installation in a control cabinet, the DC1 devices are also available with high protection class IP66. The robust devices can therefore be mounted outside the control cabinet directly next to the motor or on the machine.
New: Outdoor rating
With the outdoor rating, the IP66 devices are now not only protected against water and precipitation, but also against sunlight. This means that the DC1 frequency inverters can also be used in horticulture and agriculture or for HVAC applications without any problems - without additional protective measures such as a roof. The installation depth of the new IP66 devices has also been reduced. The cover can be designed flexibly so that, for example, control and signaling devices from Eaton's RMQ family can be fitted.
The DC1 devices in the IP66 range are optionally available with operating elements for local control. They now also have a daisy-chain RJ45 connection: for example, a parameterization stick and the communication cables can be connected to this. The parameterization stick can also be used to establish a Bluetooth connection to the DC1 via the RJ45 interface, which enables parameterization using the DrivesConnect mobile app. as
