Industry standard in plastic

Connectors Han-Eco B. Harting has introduced the Han-Eco B and has taken a considerable step forward with this series: The connector series with housings made of high-performance plastic is now fully compatible with the Han B industry standard.

All contact inserts and modules that can also be inserted into the standard metal housing now fit into the corresponding plastic housings for this connector. Plastic and metal versions are compatible. Another new feature is the option of snapping pre-assembled inserts from inside an enclosure - from the rear - into an add-on housing on the enclosure wall. Previously, the cables had to be routed from the enclosure through the mounting cut-out to the outside and then assembled on the enclosure in order to screw the inserts into the add-on housing from the outside. This can usually only be carried out by qualified electricians. The rear mounting option now makes it possible to assemble the connections and control cabinet separately. The downward compatibility of the Han-Eco B in industrial environments is guaranteed. Users can make the most of the advantages of plastic and metal in terms of the respective cost and quality requirements. Existing test equipment in production can still be used for both enclosure variants.

The use of plastic increases corrosion resistance. According to Harting, the high-performance plastic used is fire-resistant to UL94 V0 and reduces the weight of the housing by around half compared to metal.

In addition to the use of standard monoblocks, the Han-Modular series can also be used via the hinged frame. Correspondingly equipped metal articulated frames can be firmly screwed into the new housings. Harting has achieved its goal of designing Han-Eco B and Han B Standard to be compatible. This benefits the user because they can select the connector material for connecting components and equipment in a machine or system with complete flexibility.

Harting is a provider of industrial connection technology for the three lifelines of data, signal and power with 13 production sites and branches in 44 countries. The company also manufactures checkout zones for the retail sector, electromagnetic actuators for automotive and industrial series applications, charging technology and cables for electric vehicles as well as hardware and software for customers and applications in automation technology, robotics and transportation, among others. pb
