Industrial remote maintenance

New Remote Maintenance Gateway from SSV

Remote monitoring and remote maintenance tasks in the machine and plant sector are becoming increasingly complex. A simple IoT cloud connection with a dashboard and a VPN access option are no longer nearly enough. At the same time, cybersecurity requirements are increasing due to ever new threats. To meet these challenges, SSV has developed a special IoT gateway, the RMG/941, as part of an open innovation process.

An RMG/941 combines four industrial remote maintenance tasks in a compact DIN rail housing. In addition to the classic VPN remote access interface for manual maintenance tasks, it particularly supports component, machine and system connection to the IoT platforms of the market-leading cloud platforms via CoAP, MQTT, REST or OPC UA. This provides genuine end-to-end cyber security from the sensor to the actuator. For example, sensor readings can be provided with a digital signature at one end using a public key infrastructure (PKI), which actuators can verify at the other end using an X.509 certificate and a public key. This guarantees the authenticity and integrity of the data for distributed applications. In addition to integrated machine learning functions for anomaly detection through permanent real-time analysis of sensor data, the RMG/941 also has a modular construction kit for the secure remote software update of OT modules.

The RMG/941 is available in three different hardware variants. Depending on the variant, it can be connected to the internet via Ethernet, 4G or NB-IoT mobile modem. All common IoT and cloud protocols are supported. The cyber security functions are based on OpenSSL.
