What is where at what time?
Kathrein Solutions, which specializes in RFID/AutoID solutions, is presenting the new RTLS system (Real-Time Location System) for the first time at Logimat. It combines the exact position available in real time with unique identification.
The newly introduced K-RTLS real-time localization system consists of the mobile transponder, the permanently installed nodes and the CrossTalk IoT software. The Ultra Wide Band (UWB) technology used enables unambiguous localization in difficult, reflective environments. The accuracy of ten centimetres and the robust, compact housing design of the transponder allow it to be used for a wide range of applications in the real-time tracking of objects in manufacturing and logistics, the manufacturer promises.
The transponder has an adapter fastening system that can be dynamically changed depending on the application for permanent or temporary fastening to vehicles or material container trolleys. A UHF RFID tag and an NFC RFID tag are integrated into the transponder and connected to the microcontroller. This means that applications for localization and contactless identification in the far and near field range can be combined.
The equally compact nodes can be easily supplied with power and network via PoE. To keep the installation effort for the network as low as possible, the nodes also have their own optional 2.4 GHz radio network for data exchange. This means that only around 25 percent of the required nodes need to be supplied with a LAN cable. The distance between the individual nodes can be up to 80 meters.
The CrossTalk IoT Suite provides software for the configuration and operation of all AutoID hardware for the new K-RTLS system. Business apps can be implemented on the basis of preconfigured tracking scenarios. as
