Logimat 2025: Answers to the PPWR

pb,

Complete labeling line set up

Solutions for requirements arising from the new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) are the focus of Herma's presence at Logimat.

For the first time, this EU regulation formulates tough reduction targets for packaging waste for the EU member states: by 2030, per capita packaging waste is to be reduced by five percent compared to the base year 2018. However, in view of the increases that have occurred in the meantime, it must currently be assumed that a reduction of 19 percent will be necessary. The PPWR is aimed directly at packaging and its sustainability. In all likelihood, packaging waste will also include the document material for shipping labels. Anyone who manages to do without the backing material has already come closer to the PPWR targets. This is already possible today with the Inno-Liner label material from Herma. It is designed to meet the performance and speed requirements of logistics centers. As it is initially non-sticky and the adhesive is only activated at the moment of dispensing, it avoids some of the disadvantages of conventional siliconized linerless solutions.

Precisely because labels offer the opportunity to efficiently fulfill PPWR requirements, they must be able to be applied reliably and precisely. Herma will be demonstrating suitable solutions using a complete labeling line. The Herma eco, for example, which achieves cost-effectiveness, high-quality equipment and top processing quality for many standard applications, can be experienced live. However, the Herma 500 labeler remains unmatched in terms of performance, user-friendliness and, above all, flexibility; it can cover any speed, any installation situation and any label width.
