Labeling systems
Fast labeler
In the mail order business, for example, cartons need to be labeled quickly and reliably. A case for the new high-performance Legi-Air 6000 labeler from Bluhm Systeme: it labels continuous cartons of different heights at up to 2,250 cycles per hour with a DIN A6 label format and a product height difference of 500 millimetres.
The performance comes from a servomotor-driven dispensing applicator: after a sensor has determined the height of the incoming product to be labeled in advance, the applicator quickly moves into the correct position. This shortens the travel distance during the labeling process; at the same time, the pressure dispenser labels more accurately and up to 50 percent faster than a labeler with a pneumatically operated cylinder. This is supported by the consistent lightweight design with carbon fiber components for the moving parts. The applicator is around 80 percent lighter than a conventional model. Another advantage: as the dispensing applicator is moved purely servo-electrically without compressed air, costs are saved. Compressed air is only used to apply the label using the tamp-blow method. Legi-Air 6000 can process large rolls with a diameter of up to 350 millimetres, which means 600 meters of label stock. This increases system availability until the next roll change. pb
