VDMA: Fit for Industry 4.0 at Achema
The pump and vacuum pump of the future is intelligent and digitally networked. The manufacturers of VDMA Pumps + Systems and VDMA Vacuum Technology are convinced of this. They are currently developing the administration shell, the digital representative of the pump, on the basis of existing submodels. This contains all the data that can describe a pump.
"All required implementations, such as an OPC UA Companion Specification, can be derived directly from the information in the asset administration shell. This is a prerequisite for developing a pump fit for Industry 4.0," explains Christoph Singrün, Managing Director of the VDMA Pumps + Systems Association, in the run-up to Achema in Frankfurt.
The central components of the asset administration shell are information models, some of which already exist in the form of standards or guidelines, which have been combined to form the final asset administration shell. The "General device profile for pumps" (VDMA standard sheet 24223), which was created in 2008 and standardizes the basic functions and information of vacuum and liquid pumps in operation, is one of the sub-models.
The profile has already served as the basis for various "bus applications" for products from different pump manufacturers. There are also plans to use the "size selection program" (VDMA 24278), an electronic data sheet developed in 2008 together with operators in the chemical industry, to create the administration shell.
The VDMA Pumps + Systems Association will be represented at Achema on the VDMA joint stand in Hall 8.0, Stand A23.
