Double-acting pneumatic cylinders
RS Components expands its Festo range
RS Components has expanded its portfolio of automation manufacturer Festo. The latest additions to the range are the new double-acting pneumatic cylinders from the DSBC series. The DSBC air cylinders are aimed at both mechanical engineers and maintenance technicians. They are reliable and economical linear motion generators with patented, self-adjusting damping technology.
Double-acting cylinders have two compressed air connections in order to develop a linear output force both during retraction and extension as well as a braking force towards the end of each stroke. However, the manual setup process is not necessarily optimized for individual applications, leading to setup errors in up to 80 percent of cases.
With Festo's self-adjusting pneumatic end-position cushioning (PPS), the cross-section of the air openings is automatically adjusted to vary the braking effect depending on the load and speed. PPS even reacts to changes in friction and working pressure and optimizes the damping without the need for manual adjustment. This saves time when installing and maintaining DSBC cylinders, minimizes wear, noise and vibrations and enables continuous operation over a long service life.
A magnetic piston rod made of high-alloy steel enables contactless position detection via proximity sensors in the cylinder body and at the same time increases the service life.
The DSBC range includes over 300 variants with different stroke lengths and cylinder bore sizes. A quick online selection tool helps with configuration for a wide range of applications. Cylinder bore sizes of 32 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm, 63 mm, 80 mm, 100 mm and 125 mm are available. The numerous stroke length options range from 1 mm to 2800 mm. The output force of the cylinder is between 483N and 7363N.
The round actuators in the DSBC series comply with the specifications of ISO 15552 and are interchangeable with all standard hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders. This also includes the cylinders of the DNC and DNCB series of the previous generation. Optional mounting accessories allow the cylinders to be attached with a swivel bracket to increase freedom of movement. They can also be mounted on a base for use with larger loading heights. The combination with other drives ensures an even greater range of movement.
The DSBC portfolio is part of a program to continuously introduce over 10,000 new Festo devices to the RS product range and is now available in the EMEA region.
