Compressors with high efficiency
Kaeser is launching the speed-controlled screw compressors of the ASD series with a new drive technology.
The drive is powered by synchronous reluctance systems from Siemens with high efficiency in the partial load range. The new standard motor series combines the advantages of asynchronous motors and synchronous motors in one drive.
Neither aluminum, copper nor expensive rare-earth magnets are used in the slider; instead, electrical steel sheets with a special profile are strung together. This makes the drive robust and easy to service. The control characteristics are comparable to those of synchronous motors: reluctance motors have high dynamics due to the specific rotor design and there is no additional heating in the rotor.
