The Kuka Board of Management has decided to contribute Kuka's General Industry business in China and the Swisslog business in China to joint ventures with companies of the Midea Group. The respective shareholders of the joint ventures will each hold a 50 percent stake in the joint ventures. The joint venture in the robotics sector will be controlled by Kuka. The Chinese automotive business, on the other hand, will remain 100 percent owned by Kuka.

These joint ventures are intended to increase market penetration in China and further expand Kuka's business in China. The construction of the new production facility in the technology park in Shunde (China) should also be seen in this context; new products are also to be developed here in the future and up to 75,000 additional robot units per year are to be produced in several expansion stages by 2024 (with the existing capacities, a total of 100,000 robot units per year in China).

On March 21, 2018, Kuka's Supervisory Board approved the establishment of the joint ventures and the investment in the technology park in Shunde. as
