Frameless motor kit

Slimmed down for robots

Motors in robotics must be lightweight and deliver a high torque at the same time. Only then can arms and grippers be moved dynamically. However, DC motors cannot always be optimally integrated into a structure, and standard solutions reach their limits.

Maxon Motor has therefore developed an alternative and is now offering its brushless flat motors (EC flat) as a frameless motor kit. The rotor and stator are supplied separately - without bearings and without a motor shaft - and are only joined together when the components are assembled. According to the company, this provides the customer with the optimum combination of high torque density and minimal volume. The brushless flat motors in the EC-flat series are very compact with external diameters of 43 to 90 millimetres. Designed as external rotors, they offer plenty of space inside for cable bushings. Maxon supplies them with Hall sensors for simple control. as
