Melfa FR robot series

Faster commissioning

The new industrial robot series from Mitsubishi Electric combines reduced cycle times with scalable safety functions and offers a wide range of connection options for easy integration into production systems.

Mitsubishi Electric's technology highlights increase efficiency, for example, unplanned downtime can be avoided through flexible maintenance schedules: Live usage data is analyzed by preventive maintenance, which compares the data with a dynamic model of the robot's components. Service life and maintenance requirements can then be predicted in real time. In addition, the new Melfa-FR robot series offers functions that support automatic calibration and thus enable greater accuracy and shorter commissioning times.

Increasing the productivity and profitability of manufacturing companies requires the optimization of available space and machine availability. Safety functions such as Safe Limited Speed (SLS), Safely-Limited Position (SLP) and Safe Torque Off (STO) ensure that personnel can work efficiently on the robot. Thanks to the scalable safety options, a robot can be optimized for occasional or regular access by people. The gradual deceleration instead of an immediate stop and the transition from high-speed to low-speed operation and back allows both the robot and the human to work efficiently without stops and in a smaller space.

Servo motion control technologies from Mitsubishi Electric are used to deliver fast dynamic responses that shorten cycle times and increase productivity. In addition to saving time in operation, the new Melfa-FR robot series is quick and easy to install and offers intuitive programming and extensive connectivity options. Before use, the operator can virtually set up and test the robot movement and interaction using the 3D CAD simulation software RT Toolbox3.

With a focus on connectivity, the new launch offers a wide range of options from Profinet to CC-Link IE Field Gigabit Ethernet. Fast networking and convenient machine integration enable a seamless connection between robots and IT systems, allowing easy and cost-effective integration into existing and new systems. Both the Scara and articulated robots in the FR series are compatible with the CR800 and Melsec iQ-R controller series, which further simplifies the installation and integration process.

Complex assembly work or dynamic tasks such as the application of adhesives and sealants can be handled by a combination of several robots: The Melsec-iQ-R series integrates the different CPU types - such as PLC, motion, CNC or robot - on a single platform. In addition, this technology offers an integrated anti-collision function that simplifies the coordination of multiple robots.

The Melfa FR robot portfolio covers a wide range of automation applications by offering both vertical and horizontal Scara robots. Each version has the familiar double-arm structure, which ensures maximum freedom of movement and stability at high speeds. Depending on the model, the new robots are available with reaches of up to 1,504 millimetres and load capacities of two to 20 kilograms. The compact design with the option of wall or ceiling mounting enables maximum space utilization. Melfa FR robots maintain accuracies of up to plus/minus 0.01 millimeters. as
